Screening questions & knockouts

Ask up to five Yes/No or numeric questions per job, and automatically screen out applications that don't meet your requirements.

3 min read

Verified companies can add up to five screening questions per job. Two types are available: Yes/No and Number. That's deliberate — they're quick for candidates to answer, they translate to any language, and they can be filtered automatically.

Knockout questions

Any question can be marked as a knockout with a passing condition: the required Yes/No answer, or a numeric range (for example, at least 3 years of experience).

When an applicant fails a knockout, their application is automatically moved to your “Screened out” stage. It is never deleted — you can always review it, and pull anyone back into the process with a drag.

Why screened-out applications are kept

Keeping every application, including screened-out ones, protects you: hiring records should show every applicant and how their application was dispositioned. It also protects candidates from silent black holes — which is why screening happens transparently at submit time, based only on their own answers.

Questions freeze after the first application

Once a job has applications, its questions can no longer be edited — otherwise past answers would be rewritten under people's feet. Close the job and create a new one if you need a different screen.
