Freshteam is shutting down: what it means and what to do
Freshworks announced the end of Freshteam in January 2026 and stopped renewals in March 2026. Here is what was announced, what happens to your data, and the order to do things in.

What exactly did Freshworks announce?
Freshworks announced the end of Freshteam on 7 January 2026 and stopped taking subscription renewals from 7 March 2026. Freshteam was aimed at small and mid-size businesses and combined applicant tracking with light HR features such as employee records and time off.
Existing subscriptions generally run to the end of their current term rather than being cut off on a single shared date, so your own deadline is the one in your Freshworks billing settings. Check it rather than assuming a date.
What happens to my candidate data?
This is the part with a deadline attached. Candidate records, resume files and hiring history live inside Freshteam, and access ends when the subscription does.
Export before you evaluate replacements. Choosing a new tool takes weeks; an expired account cannot be re-opened to retrieve a CSV you forgot to download.
Resumes need separate attention. They are stored as attachments and are not always included in a candidate CSV export, so download them as files and keep the names matched to candidates.
What should I do first?
In order, and the order matters:
- Check your renewal date in Freshworks billing so you know your actual deadline.
- Export all candidate records to CSV, including rejected and archived candidates, not only active ones.
- Download resume files separately and keep them matched to candidate names.
- Write down your open jobs and the pipeline stages each one used.
- Only then choose a replacement and rebuild.
What replaces Freshteam?
There is no single like-for-like replacement, because Freshteam combined two things that are usually sold separately: an applicant tracking system and light HR features such as employee records and time off.
If you mainly used the hiring side, a standalone applicant tracking system replaces it. ofper is free, with unlimited jobs and candidates, and no paid tier for core recruiting.
If you relied on the HR side for employee records and leave, you need an HR system for that part. ofper does not have those features and is not a replacement for them.
